The PA SHRM Chapter of the Year award recognizes outstanding achievement in chapter initiatives and contributions to effective HR management. Each year PA SHRM will award one chapter $1,000 at our Annual State Conference. PA SHRM State Council will also make a contribution of $500 to the SHRM Foundation on behalf of the winning chapter (in the chapter’s name).
Chapter Eligibility: Complete and submit the Chapter self nomination form and all supporting
documentation to Victoria Krotzer, (email@example.com) by August 1. Entries will be evaluated by a committee appointed by the State Council Executive Board and the decision will be final.
The State Council recognizes that some of our Chapters run on a calendar year basis and others run on a fiscal year. In an effort to treat each Chapter equally and meet the reviewers’ needs and year to year timelines due to fluctuating dates of the State Conference, each Chapter should complete the self nomination form for Award year August 1 – July 31.
Please note that your Chapter should submit a nomination form even if you have nothing to report in one or more initiative areas. Judging will be based on quantitative and qualitative scores. Chapters scoring the highest total points in the quantitative section will move on to the second round of judging based on qualitative results.
2015 Winner Human Resource Association of Centre County
In 2014/2015, the Human Resource Association of Centre County had six out of the seven Core Leadership Areas represented on their Board. They have made “out of the box” strides in promoting their membership by beginning a “Member Service Area” (MSA) in their surrounding counties to recruit new members. They have done this by marketing themselves as the “Premier HR Source” in the area.
In order to grow their membership, they began offering an “Executives Only Leadership Roundtable for Senior Level HR Leaders. They held four of these Leadership Roundtable meetings.
One of their nine monthly meetings they hold an annual Law Conference and a joint meeting with Blair County. In addition to these meetings, they also held another four MSA meetings plus their kick-off event last summer. This chapter also held four HR Afterhours social events for members. Twenty-nine percent of their meetings provided strategic credit to members.
This chapter also faithfully utilized the PA SHRM website calendar to post their events so that all State Council members could see their events. This is a great way to communicate a chapter’s events to surrounding counties , Chapters and At-Large SHRM members.
This chapter has been awarded the SHRM Platinum Status for the past three years. They have also been SHRM Foundation Champions for two years and Star and Super Star status for Membership for the past three years.
Please join me in congratulating the Human Resource Association of Centre County for their great efforts this past year and winner of the 2014/2015 Chapter of the Year Award!
